Only 40 days!

There are only 40 days until Relay for Life, and I feel like I have gotten so much done, but there is still SO MUCH to do!

Lesa, our Community Manager from ACS, was just diagnosed with cancer for the second time, so that came as a big shock to all of us... and it makes me a little worried that things won't come together, but hopefully everything will fall into place.

I'm hoping that if I do this next year, that I will be more prepared and get things rolling a lot sooner, so that I won't feel this overwhelmed at the last minute!!

So with just over a month to go, I still have a lot to pull together for the "onsite" part of the event. I can only hope that our teams are fundraising like crazy! Our goal for this year is $75,000. As I write this, we have had $18,803 turned in. We have another meeting on Tuesday, where hopefully thousands of dollars will be turned in. I really want us to meet goal this year... I'm hoping that we can do it!

If you are reading this and have not donated to a Relay in your area, please consider donating to my personal site. All donations can be done online via credit card and are tax deductible. Relay is such a worthy cause, because cancer is rampant and does not discriminate when it comes to who is affects. Please consider a donation in honor of your loved one who is battling or has battled cancer, or in memory of your loved one who lost the fight!

Well, I have lots of stuff to get done before the meeting Tuesday, so I must stop blogging now!

Diaper Cake

So I have a baby shower to go to tomorrow, and I didn't want to bring just a normal gift. I have seen so many creative diaper cakes on the internet from girls on the nest so I started looking ways to make them. I found the directions and bought the supplies. Surprisingly, this was very easy. It was a little time consuming, but I am very happy with the way it turned out. I showed it to my aunt and she couldn't believe that I made it. She told me that I should start making them and selling them to people. Here is the finished product:

Here's what I put "in" the cake
2 packs of newborn diapers (total 88)
5 onesies
1 tshirt
1 pair of pants
1 cap
1 pair of mittens
1 pair of booties
1 bib
1 birp cloth
Soft blocks that spell "BABY"
Travel size : Baby Shampoo, Baby Powder, Baby Lotion, Diaper rash
Teddy bear stuffed animal

I really think that the mom-to-be will love the gift. It is something that is cute, creative and useful.

A good 3 days

I had a great class of 1st graders the past 3 days. They were so well mannered. All of the kids were constantly saying "Yes, ma'am", "No, ma'am", "May I please go to the bathroom?", "Thank you" and "Excuse me" That is something that you rarely find these days. Twenty three first graders with manners.... all in one place! I give kudos to this teacher. She is a young, 2nd or 3rd year teacher, and is doing a great job! There were no major behavior problems. I got to teach whole lessons without stopping and dealing with problematic students. It was a refreshing change!

I think that tomorrow will be an off day... then its on to the 6th graders on Friday :)

3 months

Yesterday would have been 3 months until the wedding. I didn't think about it much yesterday. I realized it around 10:30 last night, and I said to my best friend "Today would have been 3 months until I made the Biggest mistake of my life!" And then it was over.

Day by day, I am getting there... to the point where I don't think about all of this crap everyday. I have come a long way!
