Book Fair Finds!

The school that I was subbing at today is having a book fair this week. I went in there today since I'm not going to be at the school anymore this week. I love book fairs! I can't resist buying things, so today I spent some money, but I got some cool books :) Here's what I got..."No Talking" by Andrew Clements - I read the synopsis of this book and had to have it. It is about a 5th grade class who is having a contest between the boys and girls... Who can say the least in 2 days? I can't wait to read it.

"There's a Map on my Lap" by Tish Rabe. This is part of The Cat in the Hat Learning Series. I love Cat in the Hat books. When I was teaching a unit on maps, it was hard to find books that taught about maps, so this was a must have for me.

"Akeelah and the Bee" by James W. Ellison. This is a book that was written based on the screenplay of the movie "Akeelah and the Bee" I thought that it was neat that the book was written after the movie because usually it is the other way around.
"What a Day it was at School" by Jack Prelutsky. This book is so cute! It has poems that highlight special days at school like field trips and learning history. I think that it would be cute to read these to mark these "big events" in an Elementary student's life.

"Shiver Me Letters, A Pirate ABC" by June Sobel. This book is too cute. I love ABC books. I have quite a few of them. Being a Pirate at ECU, I had to buy this book. It goes throughout the Alphabet (teaching order and sequence) and throws in several "pirate" vocabulary words.

"No More Pencils, No More Books, No More Teacher's Dirty Looks!" by Diane deGroat. This is a book about the last day of school. It captures the 'bittersweet emotions' of the last day of school. The perfect book to end a school year.

"Go, Go America" by Dan Yaccarino. This is probably my favorite find of the day. This book goes throughout America visiting each of the 50 states. It gives you fun facts about each state and important information. It is illustrated with bright pictures. I love factual books like this :)

I also got my first Teacher Pointer. I love these hand pointers. They make things like doing the Calender more fun. I got the yellow one!

I spent way too much money, but it is investing in my future classroom!
